Job overview
This custodial role is focused on keeping assigned spaces clean, sanitary, and safe. The position includes routine janitorial work, support for special and hazardous waste handling, and day-to-day upkeep of the work area.
Key duties
- Carry out general janitorial tasks across the assigned location.
- Complete the tasks listed on the daily work schedule.
- Handle hazardous waste-related work, including collecting, sorting, classifying, storing, shipping, receiving, labeling, cleaning, recycling, and packaging special or hazardous materials.
- Use motorized cleaning equipment as needed.
- Keep the assigned area maintained and in good order throughout the day.
- Alert a supervisor about incidents, unsafe conditions, or other concerns.
- Follow all safety rules, site policies, procedures, and work instructions.
- Intervene when unsafe behavior is observed in self or others.
- Work cooperatively with team members and support shared assignments.
- Perform repetitive cleaning and maintenance tasks consistently.
- Keep the work area orderly and clean.
- Follow company protocols, procedures, and rules without deviation.
- Accept direction from supervisors and respond appropriately to oversight.
- Communicate professionally with leads, supervisors, co-workers, managers, and customers.
- Step in to help when staffing is short.
- Assist the shift lead with punch-list completion.
- Use the required personal protective equipment correctly.
- Maintain a professional appearance and conduct on the job.
- Support customer service and satisfaction expectations.
- Understand reporting systems and environmental responsibilities.
Qualifications
No formal education is required for this role. A background of 3 to 6 months of related training or experience is preferred, or an equivalent mix of education and experience.
A valid driver’s license may be required. Completion of safety and task-specific training certifications is expected, and forklift certification may also be required.
Skills and abilities
- Ability to understand written instructions, procedures, manuals, and similar documents.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills.
- Working knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment.
- Awareness of equipment care and routine maintenance.
- Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and compounds, including safe and efficient use.
- Willingness to share cleaning knowledge and support teammates.
- Bilingual ability is a plus.
Physical requirements and work conditions
- The role may require sitting and communicating by speech or listening for extended periods.
- The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.

Shift and compensation
Available shifts include Sunday through Thursday from 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM, Monday through Friday from 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM, and Monday through Friday from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM.
Pay is $14.00 to $15.00 per hour.
