Customer Delivery Driver

Role overview

In this position, you will represent Tesco directly with customers at their homes and be responsible for delivering shopping with care, reliability, and friendly service. The work is varied and practical, with each shift bringing different demands. You will spend much of your day working on your own, while still being supported by managers and colleagues at the base when needed.

Work availability

The scheduled availability window for this role is as follows:

• Monday: 14:00 to 19:00
• Tuesday: 13:00 to 23:00
• Friday: 19:00 to 23:00
• Saturday: 18:00 to 22:00

Pay and hours

Starting pay is £14.18 per hour, increasing to £15.45 per hour in stores located within the M25. Certain locations may also include extra pay. A minimum of 16 hours per week is guaranteed, and some roles are available from 12 hours per week.

What you will do

• Keep the van, trays, and work area clean, well organised, and ready so customers receive their shopping in excellent condition.
• Load the vehicle safely and carry out all required checks so it remains roadworthy and prepared for deliveries.
• Explain any order updates, replacements, or near-date items in a calm and helpful manner, and process refunds when necessary.
• Handle every product carefully to protect quality and maintain customer confidence.
• Deliver orders within the agreed time slot and provide a friendly, reassuring service at the customer’s doorstep.

What you need

• The ability to work closely with colleagues and contribute to a positive team atmosphere.
• A welcoming, polite approach with both customers and coworkers.
• Comfort with fast-changing needs and the flexibility to adapt while on the road and in-store.
• A valid UK, EU, or EEA full or automatic driving licence held for at least 12 months.
• No more than 3 penalty points on your driving licence.
