Description de l'emploi
Role overview
Ellevation is hiring a Data Implementation Specialist to join its Data Integration team. In this role, you will set up and maintain dependable data feeds from district Student Information Systems (SIS), assessment providers, and other partner sources. You will work directly with school district teams through calls and screen sharing sessions to build the data extracts that support Ellevation’s products, and you will own that work from initial setup through ongoing monitoring.
You should already have a broad understanding of SIS environments and be expanding your knowledge of the wider K–12 data landscape. This position calls for someone who can work independently with limited day-to-day direction, raise issues in a thoughtful way when something unexpected occurs, and consistently produce accurate, reliable work. A collaborative, service-minded approach is important, along with comfort partnering with district contacts and internal teammates.
Partner collaboration and onboarding
You will coordinate with district staff over calls and screen shares to configure data extracts from SIS platforms, including information such as student demographics, staff records, schedules, and assessment data. You will also help set up data connections with vendor partners, including single sign-on configuration for new partners. Part of the work involves explaining data problems clearly to district contacts, asking targeted questions, and helping them understand what information is needed and why.
Data validation and quality checks
Before passing data to the Partner Success team, you will confirm that extracts meet quality expectations by checking headers, record totals, and completeness of key values. You will also perform basic analysis on incoming files to catch issues early and use the team’s established channels and workflows, such as Slack, meetings, and Jira, to surface questions or concerns.
Monitoring and issue resolution
You will watch incoming data jobs for failures and act quickly to diagnose and respond to problems. You will handle Jira tickets, make an initial attempt at troubleshooting, and escalate when a situation is more complex, delayed, or requires input from management or leadership.
Documentation and continuous improvement
You will record new findings and repeatable processes for extracting SIS data so the team’s playbooks stay current. You will also ask informed questions of teammates and leaders to deepen your understanding of the SIS and vendor ecosystem, while remaining flexible and positive when priorities change.
Qualifications and fit
Ellevation is looking for someone with 1–3 years of experience in a customer-facing technical role such as data onboarding, technical support, solutions engineering, or a similar function. A working knowledge of Student Information Systems is strongly preferred, as is experience in K–12 education. You should be comfortable with basic data analysis, including checking file structure, verifying record completeness, and identifying data issues. SQL familiarity is preferred, though the company is open to candidates who want to develop SQL skills on the job. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential, especially the ability to translate technical details for non-technical district partners. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, reliable, proactive about escalation, collaborative, and service-driven.
Why the work matters
Ellevation supports multilingual learners across thousands of districts. The data you configure and validate forms the backbone of the product experience, from student rosters and assessment results to progress monitoring. When data is dependable, educators can focus on students instead of troubleshooting systems.
Success milestones
Within 1 month: You will complete onboarding, learn how Ellevation products use external data, understand the basics of data intake from SIS platforms and vendor partners, and join partner calls with a manager or teammate.
Within 3 months: You will work more independently with district partners to set up extracts and resolve data issues, contribute to internal SIS extraction playbooks, and apply team quality standards when reviewing and handing off incoming files.
Within 6 months: You will manage a portfolio of partner onboardings and ongoing data jobs with confidence, proactively monitor pipelines and address failures before they escalate, and document new SIS patterns or edge cases for the broader team.
Within 12 months: You will have built strong proficiency across the most common SIS platforms and data extraction workflows, become a trusted contributor on the Data Acquisition team, and actively help improve team processes and documentation.
Compensation and benefits
The salary range for this position is $50,000 to $80,000 per year, depending on experience and internal pay alignment. Ellevation’s compensation approach also includes a competitive base salary, annual performance-based raises, and a bonus component, with commission applicable only to sales roles. Full-time employees receive comprehensive benefits.
Eligible employees and qualifying dependents are covered by medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees may join the 401(k) plan with an employer match of up to 50% on the first 7% of contributions, with both pre-tax and Roth options available. Additional benefits include flexible paid time off, paid company holidays, floating holidays, a winter office closure between Christmas and New Year’s, generous parental leave, back-up childcare or eldercare, and other wellness-focused perks.
