Role overview
Renfrew Development Trust is looking for an experienced and committed Development Officer to help deliver and grow its work in the community. This is a strong opportunity for someone motivated by local engagement, community-led projects, and making a practical difference in Renfrew.
About the position
In this role, you will support a broad mix of organisational activity, including engaging with the community, coordinating volunteers, assisting with projects, and helping plan and run activities and events. You will also contribute to developing new ideas and opportunities that strengthen the Trust’s reach and impact.
The post suits someone who is well organised, comfortable working with a range of people, and able to juggle several priorities at once. You will work closely with the Board of Directors, volunteers, community partners, and local residents.
Working arrangement
The role is mainly based from home, but you will need to attend meetings, events, and activities in Renfrew when required. Flexibility is important, as some evening and weekend work may be needed.
Key duties
- Support engagement with local people and consultation activity in the community
- Help organise and communicate with volunteers
- Assist with the planning and delivery of projects, events, and activities
- Contribute to the creation of new initiatives and growth opportunities
- Work alongside local organisations, groups, stakeholders, and partners
- Provide progress updates and reports to the Board of Directors
- Carry out general administration and support organisational development
Person specification
- Strong planning, organisation, and time-management ability
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with good interpersonal confidence
- Background in working with communities and/or volunteers
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively
- Experience supporting projects, programmes, events, or similar activity
- Understanding of the principles of community development
- Experience presenting to and reporting back to a Board of Directors
Additional information
A full driving licence and access to a car would be useful, although they are not essential.
