Role overview
Boots UK is recruiting a Dispenser to join a store-based pharmacy team in Witham, England. In this position, you will work alongside the pharmacist and other healthcare colleagues to help deliver pharmacy and healthcare services safely and efficiently.
The role is centered in the store’s healthcare area, where you will support patients through friendly service, careful listening, and practical advice. Your day-to-day work will include greeting customers, preparing prescriptions, ensuring medicines are supplied safely, and guiding patients so they can make informed choices about their health and wellbeing.
This is an in-store role in the UK only. Remote working is not available. Applications from outside the UK will only be considered if the candidate can evidence relevant UK qualifications and the right to work in the UK.
The hourly pay for this position is £13.92, with rates of up to £16.64 in selected London locations.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare and dispense prescriptions while maintaining safe medicine supply practices, including ordering, labelling, endorsing, and handing out prescriptions.
- Collaborate with healthcare colleagues in the store to support the delivery and management of pharmacy services.
- Offer advice and care to patients about their medicines, escalating queries to the pharmacist when needed.
- Follow standard operating procedures to ensure prescriptions are dispensed safely and legally.
- Stay current with in-store changes, new systems, and operational processes.
- Help patients manage repeat prescriptions effectively, support better adherence, and reduce medicine waste.
Training and development
You will receive ongoing updates and training to strengthen your healthcare knowledge. The role also offers development opportunities, including progression toward a Pharmacy Technician pathway or opportunities within store leadership.
Requirements
- Pharmacy Advisor qualification at NVQ2 level or an equivalent credential, or currently working toward it with completion of the first year of an MPharm degree.
- Valid right to work in the UK; visa sponsorship is not available for this position under the Skilled Worker route.
Desirable experience
- Previous experience working in a community pharmacy setting.
