Description de l'emploi
Role Overview
The Engineering Director will guide the creation and rollout of the next generation of MBG products while also developing a capable, highly engaged engineering organization. The position is centered on disciplined execution, helping ensure boats reach the market on schedule, meet production readiness requirements, and reflect strong engineering principles.
Maverick Boat Group is recognized for producing premium fishing boats across brands such as Maverick, Hewes, Pathfinder, and Cobia. This position helps carry that reputation forward by making sure product decisions are grounded in solid engineering and in a practical understanding of how customers actually use boats on the water.
The role is intended to deepen MBG’s internal product development strength, improve collaboration between engineering and production, and raise overall standards for product quality, performance, and delivery execution.
MBG is seeking a leader who brings more than technical capability. A genuine connection to boating and the marine world is important, along with firsthand time on the water and a clear sense of what matters to customers.
Top Priorities
- Direct the development of MBG’s future product line
- Back production, quality, and customer service through strong engineering execution
- Shape a high-performing engineering team and team culture
Key Responsibilities
- Own product development from early concept through production release across the MBG brand portfolio
- Keep programs moving against defined milestones, timelines, and deliverables
- Blend innovation with practical buildability so products perform well on the water and transition smoothly into production
- Set product priorities using customer behavior, market understanding, and business requirements
- Recruit, develop, and lead a strong engineering team
- Define clear ownership, expectations, and accountability across all active workstreams
- Evaluate existing team strengths and address capability gaps where needed
- Foster a workplace where engineers stay engaged, challenged, and proud of their work
- Ensure designs support manufacturability, repeatability, and consistent quality
- Improve the engineering handoff to production through better documentation and clearer definitions
- Collaborate with operations so new products can be built without unnecessary complexity
- Identify improvements that cut rework, increase efficiency, and strengthen build quality
- Put structured development practices in place, including milestone monitoring and review checkpoints
- Keep teams responsible for schedules, outputs, and execution discipline
- Maintain urgency and remove obstacles that slow the development process
- Stay on top of project progress, risks, and major decisions
- Work with production, quality, supply chain, and customer service to support business goals
- Make sure engineering responds effectively to real product issues and ongoing improvement opportunities
- Coordinate product launches with sales and marketing for strong alignment and delivery
Qualifications
Required
- Demonstrated success leading product development from concept through production launch
- Background managing engineering teams and delivering complex, high-quality products
- Strong knowledge of marine product design, performance, and use in real-world conditions
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited university, in Mechanical, Marine, Ocean, Electrical, or Naval Architecture
Preferred
- ABYC certification or solid working knowledge of marine standards
- Professional credentials such as PE, CPM, or PMP
- Strong interest in boating, fishing, and the marine industry
What Will Help You Stand Out
- You have a real connection to the marine industry and spend time on boats
- You take ownership of results and keep your team accountable
- You can combine engineering rigor with practical execution
- You build strong cross-functional relationships, especially with operations
- You bring energy, urgency, and a bias toward action
Closing Note
This is a chance to influence the next generation of MBG products and lead a team that is proud of what it creates for the water. The ideal candidate understands that exceptional boats are not only designed, but also truly experienced.
