FO/MV Splicer

Role Overview

The FO/MV Splicer will be responsible for preparing, joining, testing, and documenting fiber optic and copper cable connections across telecom and offshore environments. The position involves both fusion and mechanical splicing work, along with verification of cable performance and upkeep of technical records.

Responsibilities

• Carry out fusion and mechanical splicing for fiber optic cables.
• Strip, clean, and prepare fiber and copper cables before splicing.
• Operate OTDRs, power meters, and related testing tools to check signal quality and connection integrity.
• Keep accurate splicing logs, test reports, and as-built documentation.
• Adhere to safety procedures and industry standards while working with cables and equipment.
• Work in outdoor locations such as manholes, telecom cabinets, and similar field environments to connect and splice cables.
• Handle splicing and testing for submarine composite cable, LSZH cable, armored cable, and loose tube cable using fusion and ribbon splicing machines.
• Use fiber optic tools and equipment such as OTDR, source/power meter, VFL, and talk set.

Requirements

• Diploma or certificate in Telecommunications, Electronics, or a related discipline.
• Hands-on experience in both fiber optic splicing and copper cable splicing.
• Good understanding of network layouts, color coding, and cable management practices.
• Ability to read technical drawings and splice diagrams accurately.
• Practical familiarity with OTDR testing, light source equipment, and power meter usage.
