General Manager

Role overview

The General Manager will take charge of the end-to-end operations of a building materials fabrication plant. This position carries responsibility for production, finance, sales, manufacturing, logistics, design engineering, safety, and customer support. The goal is to improve plant output, uphold strong quality standards, protect profitability, and build a workplace culture centered on safety and ongoing improvement.

Operational leadership and production

• Run day-to-day plant activity across all functions, including planning, material movement, fabrication, and outbound shipping.
• Introduce and monitor production metrics and KPIs to improve capacity use, labor productivity, and material recovery.
• Oversee the manufacture of specialized building components.
• Drive Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement efforts to reduce waste, shorten cycle times, and improve plant arrangement.

Financial, business, and sales ownership

• Take responsibility for the facility’s P&L, operating budgets, capital spending, and labor expense control.
• Build and maintain long-term relationships with important customers across the market.
• Work closely with procurement to balance inventory levels, manage raw material supply, and keep input costs under control.
• Review market conditions and production capacity to support sales planning and precise customer estimation.

Safety, compliance, and quality

• Promote a strong safety culture and ensure full adherence to OSHA rules, local building regulations, and environmental requirements.

Team leadership and culture

• Create a cooperative, accountable, and stable work environment with strong employee retention.
• Provide visible, hands-on leadership on the shop floor while also managing strategic planning responsibilities.

Qualifications and experience

Applicants should bring 5 to 7 years of experience in operational leadership within building material manufacturing, structural component fabrication, or a similar industrial manufacturing setting. Candidates must also have direct experience with budget ownership, P&L management, and cost-benefit analysis. Strong communication and relationship-building skills are essential, along with a practical leadership style that stays close to the production floor.

Compensation and benefits

The base pay range for this role is $150,000 to $200,000 per year. A performance-linked bonus of $30,000 to $80,000 is also available, depending on company performance, sales growth, and annual profit. Additional benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and similar offerings. Relocation assistance is provided for the market.
