Overview
Atria Retirement Canada is seeking a Housekeeper to help maintain a clean, sanitary, and welcoming environment for residents and staff at its Hamilton community. This position supports the day-to-day cleanliness of shared spaces and resident apartments while contributing to a courteous, service-oriented atmosphere.
What the role involves
- Keep the community’s interior areas clean, including private apartments and shared spaces.
- Carry out routine cleaning tasks such as vacuuming, dusting, and cleaning entryways, corridors, dining areas, patios, and other common areas.
- Handle apartment cleaning duties, which may include refrigerator cleaning and defrosting when needed, checking heat system filters, changing bedding and linens, maintaining linen supplies, and emptying waste bins.
- Perform deeper cleaning in apartments as required, with extra attention to high-traffic and visible areas such as carpets, plants, pictures, railings, windows, and light fixtures.
- Wash and dry linens using the on-site laundry facilities.
- Follow established sanitation and safety standards at all times.
- In addition to housekeeping duties, support meal service by greeting residents and guests, serving beverages and food items, taking orders, delivering trays when needed, clearing tables, resetting dining areas, and completing related side tasks.
- Carry out any other duties that may be assigned.
Required knowledge and abilities
- Comfort with basic reading, writing, and math.
- Ability to communicate clearly in English with residents and coworkers.
- Understanding of sanitation practices and safe food-handling procedures.
- Capacity to remember and manage up to four orders at a time.
- Strong organization and time-management skills.
- Basic computer proficiency.
