Role Overview
This opportunity is with a growing retail business operating across multiple sites and is intended for an HR Generalist who wants a hands-on role with real influence beyond routine administration. In this position, you will serve as a key HR partner for leaders and employees, helping improve employee experience, strengthen HR practices, and support the organization as it expands.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the main contact for everyday HR questions and support across the business.
- Work with managers on employee relations concerns, performance matters, documentation, accommodations, and workplace issues.
- Carry out workplace investigations and suggest suitable follow-up actions.
- Assist with end-to-end recruitment for office and retail management roles.
- Handle onboarding and offboarding coordination.
- Run employee engagement activities, surveys, and follow-up planning.
- Build and improve HR workflows using SOPs, templates, toolkits, and practical process improvements.
- Keep HR files and employee records accurate and up to date.
- Provide backup support for payroll during vacation periods and other absences.
Desired Background
- At least 3 years of experience in an HR Generalist role.
- Hands-on experience managing employee relations situations in a professional and steady manner.
- Solid understanding of Ontario employment standards and current HR practices.
- Proven ability to guide managers through sensitive workplace challenges.
- Strong planning, organization, and detail-oriented working style.
- Comfort working independently and taking full ownership of tasks.
- Experience in retail, multi-location, distribution, warehouse, or other operational settings is a strong advantage.
- Prior exposure to HRIS tools is preferred.
