Role overview
NYCOM is seeking a Laboratory Project Designer for its Morrisville, NC location. The company is one of the major names in laboratory construction, with offices across the Mid-Atlantic and Southeastern United States. Its core work focuses on interior construction for laboratory furniture, equipment, and custom woodwork serving educational, industrial, research, and healthcare clients.
This position is an entry-level opportunity with strong training support. It is suited to someone with a solid work ethic, a drive to succeed, and an interest in a fast-moving environment where collaboration across multiple projects is routine. Previous experience with Revit drafting, construction, or estimating is helpful, but not mandatory for a strong candidate.
About the role
The Laboratory Project Designer acts as a bridge between estimating and CAD drafting while supporting the sales team. Over time, this role can lead to career paths in project management, sales, estimating, or drafting.
What you will do
- Create initial laboratory casework drawings using Revit.
- Use Microsoft Excel and other internal tools to prepare estimates and project pricing.
- Review and understand architectural drawings and project specifications.
- Revise drawings and estimates as projects move through development.
- Coordinate with Account Managers and Project Managers to share progress and project status.
- Gather project records and build project files according to company standards.
- Spot design or estimating issues and recommend practical solutions.
- Prepare project budgets using internal software.
- Develop detailed knowledge of all products supplied by NYCOM.

Compensation
The annual salary range is $45,000 to $51,000, depending on experience.
