About the opportunity

Purina is driven by a strong commitment to pets and the people who care for them. In this role, you would join the Engineering team at the Blayney Factory as a Maintenance Scheduler, helping ensure maintenance work is planned and executed efficiently while balancing manpower, production requirements, tool and spare-part availability, and task priority.

Reporting to the Site Engineering Services Manager, you will serve as the primary point of contact for maintenance coordination across the site.

Key responsibilities

  • Contribute data and planning support for building the maintenance budget using a zero-base approach, aligned with the expected maintenance programme for each asset and applicable guidelines.
  • Prepare shutdown and project plans ahead of time so shutdowns can be managed smoothly and effectively.
  • Develop and maintain four-week-ahead schedules for preventive and corrective maintenance work, including inspections, servicing, and repairs.
  • Monitor and manage the work order backlog so it remains at an optimal 4–8 week level across Wet Plant, Dry Plant, Logistics, Industrial Services, Administrative Areas, and Pet Care Centre.
  • Coordinate with the Technical Store to help ensure required parts and components are available before work is scheduled.
  • Allocate labour, materials, and equipment so maintenance activities can be completed efficiently.

What you will bring

  • You should be comfortable working in a collaborative specialist team and committed to delivering strong-quality outcomes.
  • An engineering degree or advanced trade qualifications.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a technical role, ideally in food manufacturing or consumer goods, such as technician, engineering supervisor, maintenance engineer, or a similar position.
  • Hands-on experience in maintenance planning and coordination, including alignment with production schedules and related planning tasks such as budgeting, safety permits, coordination with operations, and maintenance KPI tracking.
  • Exposure to TPM, preventive maintenance planning methods, and maintenance execution.
  • Experience supporting the start-up of technical equipment and/or production lines.
  • A self-managed approach with consistent follow-through on defined KPIs and objectives.
  • A strong history of delivering outcomes through cross-functional collaboration.
  • Excellent communication and presentation ability, along with confidence in influencing and negotiating to maintain high standards of performance and quality.
  • Experience using CMMS platforms, with SAP preferred, plus proficiency in MS Office.
