Role overview
The Mechanical Assembler supports the precise, safe assembly, dismantling, and checking of gas turbine parts in line with engineering documentation, work instructions, and required quality standards. The position calls for solid mechanical aptitude, careful attention to detail, and consistent observance of safety and quality procedures. The role also involves working closely with engineering, quality, and operations teams to help ensure product performance, reliability, and on-time delivery.
Key responsibilities
- Build gas turbine parts and modules according to drawings, work instructions, and quality requirements.
- Carry out mechanical assembly on rotors, casings, combustors, blades, vanes, bearings, and auxiliary systems.
- Measure and verify tolerances and clearances using precision tools such as micrometers, dial indicators, torque wrenches, and feeler gauges.
- Read and apply technical drawings, blueprints, bills of materials, and assembly procedures.
- Complete bolting, torqueing, alignment, and component fit-up by following approved methods.
- Inspect components and record findings in line with quality and traceability expectations.
- Spot assembly issues or non-conformances, report them, and assist in resolving them.
- Follow safety rules at all times, especially for lifting, rigging, and handling heavy or delicate components.
- Keep the workstation neat, structured, and safe in accordance with 5S or site standards.
- Work with engineers, quality staff, and other technicians to ensure correct assembly and schedule compliance.
- Assist with dismantling, inspection, and reassembly during overhaul and repair work.
- Prepare checklists, records, and other required documentation accurately and promptly.
- Take part in improvement activities focused on safety, quality, cost, and delivery.
- Observe company policies, environmental rules, and applicable regulatory requirements.
Requirements
- Background in mechanical or electrical assembly.
- Basic computer skills.
- Basic command of English.
- Understanding of Lean manufacturing, 5S, or continuous improvement methods is preferred.
- Prior exposure to rotor assembly, balancing, or casing alignment is an advantage.
- Awareness of non-destructive testing basics and inspection practices is preferred.
- Basic knowledge of gas turbine operation and performance concepts is a plus.
- Certification in rigging, crane operation, or forklift handling is an added advantage.
