- Build and update 3D CAD models and 2D production drawings in Creo Sheet Metal.
- Engineer sheet metal parts with attention to manufacturability, cost effectiveness, and product quality.
- Create busbar designs that satisfy electrical, thermal, and mechanical needs.
- Apply GD&T and carry out tolerance stack-up studies to protect fit, form, and function at the assembly level.
- Work closely with electrical, manufacturing, sourcing, quality, and project stakeholders throughout development.
- Assist with prototype fabrication, testing, design verification, and resolution of manufacturing issues.
- Take part in design reviews and engineering change control activities.
- Make sure designs comply with engineering standards, design rules, and product specifications.
- Own design tasks and deliverables independently with limited supervision.
Must-have experience and capabilities
- 6 to 8 years of mechanical design experience in electro-mechanical products such as UPS, switchgear, power distribution systems, electrical panels, or comparable industrial products.
- Strong command of Creo Sheet Metal for 3D modeling, assembly modeling, and 2D manufacturing drawings.
- Good understanding of sheet metal fabrication and manufacturing methods.
- Practical busbar design experience.
- Solid knowledge of GD&T and geometric tolerancing principles.
- Experience in tolerance stack-up analysis.
- Ability to work independently and manage design work with minimal direction.
Preferred skills
- Understanding of thermal management principles and thermal design for electro-mechanical products.
- Exposure to cooling approaches used in power electronics and electrical equipment.
- Familiarity with product validation and testing activities.
- Exposure to PLM and PDM tools.
Education
A BE/B.Tech degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is required.
Eligibility
Candidates with a B.Tech/B.E. in any specialization are eligible to apply, provided they meet the technical experience and domain requirements for the role.
