Play and Learn Childcare & Education delivers early years care and education for children from 12 months up to 12 years old across Kildare and Dublin. Role Overview
This is a full-time, on-site Play Worker position based in Dublin. The role focuses on supporting children’s learning and development through both guided and free-play experiences. You will plan and deliver age-appropriate activities, supervise children to keep them safe and well, and encourage positive interactions between children.
Key Duties
- Create and run developmentally suitable play and learning activities for different age groups.
- Oversee children throughout the day to support their safety, comfort, and wellbeing.
- Encourage respectful and positive social behaviour among children.
- Help maintain a friendly, inclusive setting where every child feels welcome.
- Communicate clearly with children, families, and colleagues.
- Support daily routines such as mealtimes, rest periods, and transitions between activities.
- Observe children’s development and record progress appropriately.
- Contribute to planning the curriculum and activity programme.
- Follow safeguarding requirements as well as health, safety, and operational procedures.
Requirements
- QQI Level 7 or 8 qualification in Early Childhood Education, childcare, or an equivalent qualification.
- Previous experience with children aged 12 months to 12 years in a childcare, school, or after-school environment.
- Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to build trust with children, families, and coworkers.
- Good understanding of play-based learning, child development, and age-appropriate activities that support all areas of growth.
- Ability to maintain a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment while following safeguarding and regulatory standards.
- Organisational ability for planning activities, keeping records, and managing day-to-day routines in a busy setting.
- A flexible, dependable, and team-oriented approach.
- First Aid training, child protection training, and experience in Irish early years settings would be an advantage.
Contract and Working Pattern
This position is offered on a two-year contract. It is a full-time role of 40 hours per week, worked Monday to Friday.
