Role overview
The Project Planner will take ownership of planning activities for a project or a portfolio of projects, either across a region or within a sector. The role sits within the Planning Department and also works closely with the wider Business Unit and Project Management teams.
Key responsibilities
- Own the planning function for one project or a group of projects, depending on assignment.
- Manage all planning tasks in line with the applicable Planning SOP.
- Support reporting requirements for both the Planning Department and the Business Unit / Project Management team.
- Create, update, and maintain schedules covering pre-construction, construction, and commissioning phases.
- Build and maintain progress databases and reporting tools.
- Track progress, produce reports, and forecast milestones.
- Carry out delay analysis and float path analysis.
- Use earned value management methods to monitor delivery performance.
- Review schedule performance and productivity levels.
- Audit on-site progress and verify reported status.
- Attend scheduling meetings and coordinate with clients and subcontractors.
- Prepare tender schedules and histograms.
- Lead planning meetings and support weekly workface planning processes.
- Load resources and cash flow into schedules as required.
- Provide planning data for payment applications.
- Prepare contract review reports.
- Maintain the accuracy and quality of schedules and reporting outputs.
- Highlight issues to the relevant stakeholders and recommend practical solutions.
- Record delay events and disruption impacts.
- Support claim preparation and supply information for contractual dispute matters.
- Travel to project locations when needed to perform the role effectively.
- Train staff where necessary.
- Step in for the Senior Project Planner or Planning Manager when required.
- Carry out any other duties connected with the position.
Requirements
- Strong working knowledge of Primavera P6.
- Previous experience in a construction environment.
- At least 2 years of planning experience.
- Solid understanding of Earned Value Management (EVM).
- Advanced-level Excel skills.
- Ability to collaborate well within a team.
- Clear and effective communication skills.
- Prior experience in fire protection projects is required.
