Role overview
This position plays an important part in protecting food safety, meeting compliance obligations, and driving ongoing improvements. You will keep quality system records up to date and support the wider QA team as needed.
Compensation
The hourly rate for this role is £17.90.
Key responsibilities
- Coordinate laboratory samples, arrange schedules and sampling, and monitor test outcomes, including approval of results and re-sampling where outcomes fall outside specification.
- Take ownership of the weekly microbiology review process and maintain the associated action tracker.
- Raise and process purchase orders through SAP.
- Administer Safefood 350, including monitoring activity and creating records.
- Cover QC tasks during absences and holidays, including document checks and visual inspections.
- Oversee supplier approval activity, such as requesting specifications, collecting certificates, and completing annual SAQ sign-off.
- Prepare weekly dashboards and monthly reports.
- Monitor calibration schedules and ensure certification records remain current.
- Track hygiene performance and high-cleaning standards.
- Handle cleaning validation activities when due.
- Review pest control findings and ensure corrective actions are completed.
- Prepare, schedule, and review monthly sensory WIBIT checks.
- Manage customer complaints when required.
- Review risk assessments, SOPs, and other controlled documentation.
- Support audits by compiling pre-audit documentation, carrying out traceability exercises, and presenting microbiology-related information to auditors.
- Perform internal audits.
Candidate profile
The successful applicant will be well organised, confident in communication, and able to work independently. You should be comfortable building effective relationships with colleagues, customers, and suppliers, and have strong written and spoken English. Experience with MS Office, especially Word and Excel, is important. Knowledge of auditing, quality systems, HACCP, process control, and food legislation would be an advantage, as would a scientific food-related qualification.

This is a Monday to Friday position working full time on site in Tullamore, County Offaly.
