Role overview
A global biopharmaceutical organization is hiring a Research Associate for its Analytical Sciences group in Cork. This position suits a scientist with a background in biochemistry, biology, analytical testing, or biopharmaceutical development who wants to contribute to therapies for rare and serious conditions.
Key duties
- Carry out analytical work that supports drug substance and drug product development.
- Test in-process material as well as final product samples using a variety of analytical methods.
- Use and care for lab systems and instruments such as HPLC, UPLC, CE, FTIR, and plate-based assay platforms.
- Review experimental results, draw scientific conclusions, and communicate recommendations clearly.
- Record all lab activity with accuracy and in line with GMP, GLP, and internal procedures.
- Work closely with colleagues in Manufacturing, Quality, Process Development, and Technical Operations.
- Share updates and outcomes in team meetings and take part in project discussions.
- Keep lab documentation and electronic records at an inspection-ready standard.
Required background
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Life Sciences, or a similar field.
- Prior experience in a GMP and/or GLP laboratory setting.
- Practical exposure to analytical methods such as HPLC, UPLC, CE, FTIR, ELISA, or comparable bioassays.
- Understanding of protein chemistry, biological assays, or cell culture techniques.
- Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving ability, and scientific writing skills.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
- Advantageous: experience with method qualification, method transfer, or troubleshooting.
- Advantageous: experience in biopharmaceutical or gene therapy development environments.
- Advantageous: experience supporting process development or manufacturing operations.
Contract and compensation
This is a 7-month onsite contract role based in Shanbally, Cork, Ireland. The salary is up to €56,500 per year, paid pro rata.
