Role overview
This position is for an experienced payroll professional who will manage accurate, timely, and compliant payroll operations for a range of employee groups and specialized payroll streams. The work includes regular employees, retirees, flight attendants, expatriate employees, workers with disability-related payroll needs, and global mobility payments. The role also covers garnishments, tax-related payroll work, and updates to banking details.
The ideal candidate will be careful with confidential information, highly detail-oriented, and able to make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment. If the role is performed remotely, the candidate must maintain a dependable high-speed internet connection and a secure, safe workspace.
Key responsibilities
- Run payroll accurately and within deadlines for regular staff, retirees, flight attendants, expatriates, disability-related cases, and global mobility payments.
- Examine payroll inputs and results, spot mismatches, confirm data, and fix issues before payroll is finalized.
- Keep payroll records current, including bank account updates and other employee payroll changes.
- Handle disability-related payroll transactions according to the required procedures, timelines, and standards.
- Administer garnishments in line with the relevant rules, deadlines, and internal processes.
- Assist with payroll tax activities, including checks, validation, problem-solving, and compliance-related processing.
- Investigate and resolve payroll concerns involving earnings, deductions, taxes, garnishments, direct deposit, disability cases, and employee data.
- Work with HR, Benefits, Tax, Finance, and other internal teams to obtain information and close payroll issues.
- Make sure all payroll work follows company policy, internal controls, and applicable regulatory obligations.
- Support reconciliations, audits, reporting, and year-end payroll work to keep records accurate and audit-ready.
- Track repeated issues and process weaknesses, then help improve payroll quality and efficiency.
- Offer day-to-day guidance on payroll processes, issue handling, and work quality when needed.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with employees, managers, and business partners about payroll questions and resolutions.

- Payroll is completed correctly and on time across all assigned populations and activities.
- Banking changes, disability cases, garnishments, and tax-related tasks are handled with strong control discipline.
- Payroll questions and issues are resolved quickly and with clear follow-through.
- Records and supporting documentation stay complete, accurate, and ready for audit review.
- Internal stakeholders receive timely, professional support.
Minimum qualifications
- You must already have the right to live and work in Jamaica when you apply; sponsorship is not available.
- Background in payroll processing, payroll operations, or a closely related area.
- Solid understanding of payroll processes, controls, and issue-resolution practices.
- Experience dealing with complex payroll transactions or escalated cases.
- Ability to travel to the United States and other countries for training and business meetings when required.
- Excellent attention to detail and a strong focus on accuracy.
- Good analytical, organizational, and problem-solving ability.
- Capable of handling sensitive and confidential information responsibly.
- Strong written and spoken communication skills.
- Able to juggle multiple priorities in a deadline-focused setting.
- Consistently puts safety and security first, including personal data protection.
- Comfortable working with people of different backgrounds, perspectives, and working styles.
- High school diploma, GED, or an equivalent secondary-school qualification.
Preferred experience
- Exposure to payroll support for multiple employee groups or more complex payroll streams.
- Experience with expatriate pay, disability payroll, global mobility payments, garnishments, and payroll tax work.
- Prior involvement in payroll reconciliations, audits, or year-end processing.
- Understanding of payroll compliance requirements and internal control practices.
- Experience using payroll systems, reporting tools, and data management workflows.
- History of contributing to process improvement in payroll or shared services settings.
