Role overview

Malomatia is hiring a Senior Data Scientist to lead sophisticated analytics and statistical modeling work in Doha, Qatar. This position calls for someone who can own projects from initial problem definition through to validated insights that support real decisions. You will also act as a senior technical reference point within the data science team, helping raise modeling quality and best practices.

What you will do

• Drive advanced analytics and statistical modeling initiatives from the first business question to final, decision-ready outcomes.
• Turn unclear business or policy questions into structured data science problems, testable hypotheses, and clear analysis plans.
• Set the bar for modeling methods, experimentation practices, and validation standards across the team.
• Develop, assess, and explain predictive and statistical models using Python and SQL.
• Choose the right approach across regression, classification, clustering, time-series, deep learning, and causal inference, and explain the trade-offs to stakeholders.
• Take responsibility for the statistical integrity of deliverables, including assumptions, uncertainty, and known limitations.
• Build repeatable analytical workflows and encourage strong practices in coding, documentation, and version control.
• Communicate insights and recommendations to senior stakeholders using clear narratives and visualizations.
• Review the work of other data scientists and provide constructive technical guidance to improve overall team quality.
• Coach and support junior and mid-level team members in their technical and professional development.
• Work with ML and AI engineers to prepare validated models for production and define monitoring and success measures.
• Support proposal development, project scoping, and effort estimation for new data science work.

What we are looking for

• 6 to 10 years of experience in data science, analytics, or applied statistics, with a proven history of delivering projects end to end.
• Strong leadership presence on a data science team, including mentoring, reviewing peer work, and helping define standards.
• Excellent command of statistics, experimental design, and a wide range of modeling methods.
• Ability to convert ambiguous stakeholder needs into rigorous analysis that can inform executive decisions.
• Strong commitment to statistical rigor, reproducible work, and ongoing learning in modern statistical and machine-learning methods.
• Experience with government or large-enterprise environments, preferably in Qatar or the wider GCC, is an advantage.
• Familiarity with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and cloud-based analytics setups is beneficial.
• Exposure to model deployment in collaboration with engineering teams is preferred.
• Background in a relevant sector such as public sector, finance, telecom, or healthcare is helpful.
• Experience with causal inference or advanced experimentation techniques is a plus.
• Comfort using data visualization or business-intelligence tools to communicate with stakeholders is desirable.
• Relevant data science or cloud certifications are an added advantage.
• Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related quantitative discipline is required; a Master’s degree or PhD is preferred.
• Strong practical experience with Python, including pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, and statsmodels, plus advanced SQL skills.
• Hands-on experience with TensorFlow or PyTorch for deep learning and neural network work.
• Ability to design experiments, interpret outcomes, and convert findings into business recommendations.
• Demonstrated skill in presenting analytical results to executive and non-technical audiences.
• Experience mentoring analysts or data scientists and shaping analytical methodology or standards.
• Solid understanding of the full data science lifecycle, including data quality, validation, and model handoff.
• Ability to juggle multiple projects and stakeholder groups at the same time.
