Utility Worker

Role overview

This full-time Utility Worker position is based at Troy University in Troy, Alabama. The role supports kitchen and facility operations by keeping food production and service areas clean, organized, and sanitary. It also involves helping with equipment care, supply movement, and basic setup and cleanup tasks as needed.

Work schedule

Shifts are scheduled for mornings and afternoon/evenings, with days that vary. Some weekends and holidays may be required. Additional schedule details will be shared during the interview.

Compensation

The pay rate for this role is $12.00 per hour.

Key duties

• Wash dishes manually or operate a dishwashing machine.
• Clean and sanitize worktables, walls, refrigerators, and meat blocks.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, and otherwise maintain floor cleanliness.
• Carry waste and garbage to the proper disposal areas.
• Use designated cleaning chemicals to keep equipment sanitary.
• Replenish soap, paper towels, and other cleaning or supply items.
• Support setup and teardown activities as directed.
• Perform additional duties as assigned based on site needs and client requirements.

Physical demands

This job involves considerable walking and standing for long periods, including throughout an entire shift that may exceed 8 hours. It also requires the ability to reach, bend, stoop, push, and pull, along with frequent lifting of up to 35 pounds and occasional lifting or moving of up to 50 pounds.

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
• No prior related work experience is required.
• Basic understanding of sanitation practices, including food safety fundamentals.
• Ability to arrive on time and maintain dependable attendance.
