Role overview
The Warehouse Logistics Manager will report to the Regional Director of Logistics and will lead branch-level logistics activities tied to distribution. This role centers on managing receiving, storage, inventory control, picking, packing, and route loading so products move through the warehouse accurately and on time.
Core duties
- Lead, coordinate, and improve all warehouse operations.
- Manage the operation’s P&L impact, including expenses, productivity, staffing, safety, capacity, quality, and product flow.
- Build a continuous-improvement mindset by using performance metrics, coaching, and training to keep the team focused on the most important operational priorities.
- Keep communication flowing with operations staff and coordinate closely with Customer Service, Counter staff, QA/QC, and Inventory Control when support is needed.
- Watch the branch review queue and handle inbound, outbound, and product-related questions.
- Perform daily warehouse inspections to identify safety and housekeeping concerns.
- Review daily reports and use them to find root causes and improvement opportunities.
- Oversee cross-dock and transfer activity whenever it occurs.
- Resolve day-to-day branch issues and ensure parcel shipments are processed promptly and accurately for customer delivery.
People management
- Work with the Dispatcher, Night Shift Supervisor, and Inbound/Inventory Control Manager through early-morning logistics check-ins.
- Address employee concerns and support a cooperative, high-performance team culture.
- Review and approve weekly payroll hours.
- Coordinate driver and warehouse time off so coverage remains sufficient for operations.
- Promote teamwork, accountability, and strong performance standards across the team.
- Complete required NEFCO training and make sure training initiatives are followed within the team.
- Help implement new training and improve existing learning processes for supervised associates.
- Take ownership of company projects that may extend beyond the immediate area of responsibility.
- Maintain a safe, clean working environment at all times.
- Evaluate staff performance and provide employee reviews when requested by management.
- Communicate policies clearly, enforce compliance, and apply corrective action when needed.
- Review direct reports’ timecards, confirm accuracy, approve them before the supervisor deadline, and help resolve missing punches or other timekeeping issues.
- Review PTO requests and approve them as appropriate.
Quality and operational standards
- Protect inventory accuracy and reduce shrink, damage, and obsolete stock.
- Ensure delivery schedules are met, including linehaul pull times, truck departure timing, and routing efficiency.
- Confirm that orders are picked, packed, loaded, labeled, and delivered correctly and in customer-ready condition.
- Verify that incoming shipments are received and put away accurately in both physical inventory and the system.
Working schedule
This position generally follows a Monday through Friday schedule, with occasional Saturday work. The expected workload is about 45 to 50 hours per week.
Qualifications
- At least 5 years of experience in industrial warehousing or distribution operations with a strong results-driven track record.
- Strong communication skills across all levels of the organization.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, delegate, and mentor supervisors, associates, and drivers.
- Ability to set priorities, work independently, and function with minimal supervision.
- Comfort using data and metrics to guide decisions and drive continuous improvement.
- High school diploma or equivalent; a college degree is preferred.
- Ability to review and interpret system images, reports, and documentation.
- Experience with ERP systems is needed; Eclipse experience is highly desirable.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Basic analytical and math skills.
- Ability to use warehouse layouts for planning.
- Positive, hands-on, self-starting attitude with the ability to multitask in a fast-changing environment.
- Capability to stand for long periods on concrete surfaces.
- Ability to work in cold, heat, and humidity for extended periods.
- Ability to crouch, stoop, kneel, crawl, and twist while lifting.
- Ability to safely lift 50+ lbs.
- Ability to operate warehouse equipment, including forklifts, and maintain recertification.
