Role Overview

In this backend development role, you will join the core product engineering team and take responsibility for technical design, engineering quality, and successful delivery of important product areas. The position involves working across the full stack, contributing to major engineering choices, supporting teammates, and building solutions that are scalable, secure, and aligned with product direction.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the technical design and delivery for assigned product areas from end to end, with a focus on quality, scalability, and reliability.
• Guide architecture and design conversations, weighing trade-offs that support long-term product and platform objectives.
• Work directly on backend components, APIs, data handling, and system integrations.
• Convert product needs and UX concepts into solid technical implementations in partnership with Product, UX, and Architecture teams.
• Define and uphold engineering standards for code quality, API structure, testing, security, and performance.
• Review code and designs, coach engineers, and help strengthen overall engineering practices.
• Develop RESTful APIs and microservices with clear interfaces and efficient data movement.
• Create responsive and accessible interfaces using ReactJS, along with backend services built in Java or Python using SQL/NoSQL databases.
• Take ownership of production incidents, perform root-cause analysis, and implement lasting fixes.
• Improve CI/CD, automation, and deployment reliability while working with DevOps and SRE teams.
• Contribute to the technical roadmap, modernization efforts, and adoption of better engineering practices.

Requirements

• At least 6 years of professional software development experience, including ownership of production systems.
• Background as a senior engineer with experience leading design and delivery for complex features or services.
• Strong practical knowledge of JavaScript, Java, or Python.
• Good command of system design, object-oriented programming, data structures, algorithms, and concurrency.
• Hands-on experience building RESTful APIs, microservices, and database designs using SQL and NoSQL systems.
• Experience setting and maintaining engineering practices such as testing, documentation, and code reviews.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Docker, Kubernetes, and Git-based development workflows.
• Ability to mentor engineers, influence technical direction, and balance engineering quality with delivery timelines.
• Understanding of Agile product development and continuous delivery.
• Exposure to cloud-native platforms such as AWS, Azure, or IBM Cloud is preferred.
• Experience with DevOps, observability, and monitoring is an added advantage.
• Prior work on SaaS or platform products at scale is beneficial.
