Role Summary
This full-time, on-site position is based in Gold Coast, QLD. The Building Certifier will examine project documents to confirm compliance with applicable building codes, standards, and regulations on commercial and multi-residential projects. The role includes approving building work, carrying out site and compliance inspections, preparing BCA reports, and giving straightforward advice to clients, designers, and builders. The position works closely with internal colleagues and external stakeholders to deliver certification services that are timely, accurate, and customer-oriented.
Experience and Growth
Applicants need a minimum of 5 years’ experience in Class 2 to 9 projects. The role comes with the opportunity to grow within the company, including the possibility of moving into a management role in the future for the right person.
Qualifications and Knowledge
Successful candidates should hold accredited qualifications in Building Surveying or Building Certification and have current registration or be eligible for licensing as a Building Certifier in Queensland and/or New South Wales. Strong working knowledge of the National Construction Code (NCC), Building Code of Australia (BCA), relevant Australian Standards, fire safety obligations, and disability access requirements is essential.
Key Duties
The work involves assessing plans and documentation, issuing approvals, completing inspections, and producing clear technical reports and compliance advice. The certifier will also support clients, consultants, and authorities with practical guidance while managing several projects and deadlines in a busy environment.
Skills and Tools
The role requires strong communication, stakeholder coordination, customer service, attention to detail, sound judgment, and confidence using certification, documentation, and project management software. Good computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office or similar programs, are also needed.
Travel Requirement
A current driver’s licence is required, along with a willingness to travel to sites across the Gold Coast region and, when needed, throughout Queensland and New South Wales.
