Role overview
This role is responsible for shaping and guiding product and marketing copy for L’Occitane across the United States and Canada. The position covers copy for product messaging as well as creative assets such as email, direct mail, social media, point-of-sale materials, and packaging. It calls for a highly creative professional who is also detail-driven, organized, and comfortable working across multiple teams.
What you will do
- Develop and maintain a clear brand voice and make sure all copy follows established tone and style guidelines.
- Create copy that presents the brand and its products consistently across social media, email, the website, stores, editorial content, training materials, and other online and offline channels.
- Work closely with product, campaign, social, digital, and CRM teams to keep messaging aligned across platforms.
- Partner with omni-channel marketing, digital marketing, CRM, visual, and retail teams so the copy fits every customer touchpoint.
- Collaborate with global marketing before launch to help shape packaging copy.
- Build and manage a local copy calendar for new launches, including product descriptions, short and long taglines, and communication planning.
- Coordinate with the local regulatory team to make sure all copy stays within legal requirements.
- Work with the Product Launch team and Regulatory partners to anticipate compliance issues and gather lab details needed for approval-ready copy.
- Track beauty industry copy trends, cultural shifts, and evolving language styles, and share relevant insights with content stakeholders.
- Take on other related projects and responsibilities as needed.
Performance focus
- Level of customer engagement generated by content across email, direct mail, point-of-sale, social media, and related channels.
- Consistency and cohesion of messaging across all communication platforms.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree is required.
- At least 5 years of experience in product copywriting, ideally within beauty or retail.
- Strong ability to write across formats and adapt tone while preserving a unified brand voice.
- Genuine interest in retail and customer experience.
- Solid understanding of storytelling strategy in written content.
- Ability to turn business objectives into copy and marketing priorities.
- Excellent organization, initiative, and experience driving improvements or entrepreneurial projects.
- Strong project management skills, attention to detail, and a willingness to handle even small tasks with care.
- Comfort working collaboratively across departments with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to juggle several projects at once with minimal supervision and tight deadlines.
- Good awareness of current writing trends in the industry.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Benefits and compensation
The salary range for this position is $75,000 to $85,000 annually, depending on experience, skills, and location. In addition to base pay, the role is eligible for a competitive bonus program.
