Role Overview
This is a practical, hands-on Data Analyst role based in Chicago, Illinois, within the Business Solutions & Innovations department. The team is driving a large-scale modernization of legacy technology and business workflows, with the goal of improving efficiency, long-term sustainability, and competitive advantage.
The role is offered with a flexible hybrid working setup.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and support reporting workflows that serve internal stakeholders across the firm.
- Develop a working understanding of the databases that power business operations.
- Use Power BI Analysis Services to create visual reports and dashboards.
- Work with the Aderant database and software to support financial reporting needs.
- Carry out early-stage data review, cleansing, and refinement.
- Communicate clearly with both internal teams and outside contacts.
- Handle ad hoc data queries and one-off reporting requests.
- Review, trace, and document older scripting logic and routines.
Required Background
- 1 to 3 years of experience in financial systems administration.
- 1 to 3 years of recent work experience with the Aderant financial system.
- Proven ability to manage data and perform analytical work effectively.
- Working knowledge of Power BI Analysis Services.
- Strong command of MS SQL, SSRS, and SQL query writing.
- Advanced MS Excel skills, including the ability to troubleshoot and build solutions.
- Familiarity with VBA/macros and the ability to debug them is preferred.
- Exposure to JIRA or similar tools for project and task tracking.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving ability.
- Comfort managing several tasks and projects at the same time.
- Good verbal communication skills.
- Ability to prepare concise, accurate reports and recommendations.
- Strong organization and follow-through to meet deadlines and deliverables.
- Experience with legal e-billing platform transitions, integrations, or implementations is a plus.
- Knowledge of Sequel Viewpoint Systems is a plus.
- Prior experience in a mid-sized to large law firm environment is a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree, ideally in Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent substantial industry expertise.
Compensation and Benefits
The salary range for this role is USD 80,000 to USD 90,000 annually. Final pay may vary depending on experience, education, licenses or certifications, location, market conditions, and other business needs permitted by law.
