Role overview
The Freight Supervisor will report to the department manager and support Delmar’s growth on trade lanes connecting clients in Korea and Canada. The position blends team supervision, operational support, customer retention, and sales development, with a focus on strengthening service quality and client satisfaction.
Key responsibilities
- Expand less-than-container-load (LCL) consolidation services between Korea and Canada.
- Assign tasks to team members and hold meetings to address questions, updates, and workflow coordination.
- Handle freight issues and customer complaints, apply corrective actions, and help improve internal processes.
- Train staff on freight import procedures and adjust working methods as business needs change.
- Ensure work practices remain aligned with company policies, safety standards, and CIFFA-related regulations and contribute to ongoing improvements.
- When needed, carry out associate-level work such as customer invoicing, customs manifest preparation, shipment tracking, vendor payable entry, and rail tracking/tracing.
- Procure office supplies, materials, and equipment as required.
- Support the upkeep of office devices, computer systems, software, and related equipment, and coordinate maintenance when necessary.
- Help manage existing business relationships to support sales growth among Korean customers.
- Build new business connections within the Korean community.
- Take on other responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of supervisory experience in a freight forwarding setting.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or Economics.
- Working knowledge of Korean logistics practices and Korean corporate culture.
- Experience with CargoWise One or a similar platform is an advantage.
- Strong command of Microsoft Office tools, including Windows, Word, and Excel, with skills in slicers, VLOOKUPs, and formula/automation building.
- CIFFA designation is an asset.
- Fluency in Korean is an advantage.
