About the role
Hobsons Bay City Council is seeking a Learning & Development Advisor to support the design, coordination and delivery of practical learning initiatives across the organisation. This role is responsible for keeping learning activities accessible, organised and aligned with Council priorities, while working closely with leaders and the People & Culture team.
The position is based at the Hobsons Bay Civic Center in Altona, which is conveniently located near public transport.
This is a permanent, full-time role.
The salary for this position is Band 6, ranging from $95,147.56 to $105,035.66 plus superannuation.
Key responsibilities
- Run and maintain the Learning Management System, including supporting users, managing course enrolments, keeping records up to date and preparing reports.
- Plan, coordinate, deliver and facilitate learning and development activities so they are practical, engaging and aligned to organisational goals.
- Oversee induction, onboarding and mandatory compliance learning to help create a positive employee experience.
- Keep training records accurate, monitor completion levels and make sure reporting and compliance obligations are met.
- Work with leaders, subject matter experts and the People & Culture team to understand learning needs.
- Assist with organisation-wide capability initiatives in partnership with the Organisational Capability Partner and People & Culture.
Skills and experience required
- A relevant qualification in Learning & Development, Human Resources, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience administering and working with Learning Management Systems.
- Strong capability in coordinating and delivering learning programs, including handling logistics and dealing with external providers.
- Well-developed stakeholder engagement skills, particularly with leaders and People & Culture teams.
- Ability to identify capability gaps and translate them into practical learning solutions.
- Excellent attention to detail, with strong record management, compliance and reporting abilities.
