Overview
Iplex is contributing to New Zealand’s infrastructure future through plastic pipeline systems used in water and wastewater networks, as well as civil and construction projects. As the business continues to expand, it is introducing a new National Technical Specifications Manager position to strengthen technical standards and support business growth.
Role purpose
This position is central to closing the technical specification gap for end users. You will partner closely with the sales team and work with both transactional and non-transactional customers to provide specialist advice and help shape fit-for-purpose solutions across the business.
Key responsibilities
- Develop, improve, and maintain technical specifications and related documentation.
- Serve as the go-to technical specialist supporting sales activity and customer conversations.
- Establish and grow trusted relationships with customers, councils, engineers, and contractors.
- Provide training and technical support to teams across the organisation.
- Help ensure Iplex remains aligned with current industry standards and innovation.
About you
The ideal candidate will have established experience in a technical, specifications, or engineering position, preferably with five or more years in the field, and exposure to infrastructure or a similar industry. You should be comfortable influencing technical and commercial stakeholders, simplifying complex information into practical recommendations, and supporting sales or project outcomes. Strong communication, presentation, problem-solving, and attention to detail are important, along with a proactive and solutions-oriented mindset.
Requirements
- Proven background in a technical, specifications, or engineering role, ideally with 5+ years of experience.
- Experience within infrastructure or a related sector.
- Degree in Engineering, Technical Management, or a similar discipline.
- Ability to influence both technical and commercial audiences.
- Skill in turning complex technical information into workable solutions.
- Experience contributing to sales support or project delivery.
- Strong written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
- High attention to detail and a proactive, practical approach to problem-solving.
