Role Overview
The Network Security Back Office Manager is responsible for supporting and safeguarding IT security operations, acting as a senior technical authority for back-office support, escalations, and continuous improvement across managed security environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a subject matter expert for IT system security and provide up to level-3 support.
- Review escalations and offer advisory support to front-office and back-office teams.
- Act as a technical reviewer within change management and continuous improvement workflows.
- Review fault management activities and support ongoing service enhancements.
- Perform problem analysis and resolution using structured troubleshooting methods.
- Validate root cause analysis and incident reports prepared by L1 and L2 engineers; complete RCA and incident reporting for complex cases when required.
- Open customer trouble tickets with vendors and technical support teams.
- Coordinate system changes with the relevant stakeholders to reduce service impact.
- Track and communicate issues that require escalation, and drive follow-up actions.
- Manage support tickets related to new configurations, change requests, and troubleshooting.
- Monitor security events, incidents, and potential breaches.
- Strengthen security system configurations and hardening controls.
- Provide technical guidance during client onboarding.
- Maintain expert-level knowledge of technologies and platforms used in managed networks.
- Recommend actions in response to the latest vulnerabilities.
- Carry out any additional duties assigned by the line manager.
Education and Certification
A bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a closely related field is required. Professional certifications such as CCNP Security, CCIE, CISSP, or similar security credentials are preferred. Vendor/technology certifications are also preferred, along with operating system certifications such as MCSE and RHCSA.
Experience
Applicants should bring at least 7 years of relevant experience, ideally in network security operations within a telecom environment.
Technical Skills
The role calls for strong hands-on knowledge of next-generation firewalls, IPS, NAC, VPNs (including IPSEC, dial-up, and SSL), and NAT. It also requires solid expertise in IT security infrastructure, endpoint security tools such as DLP, antivirus, DAM, EDR/NDR, and XDR, as well as web and email security. Familiarity with APT, sandboxing, SSL offloading, PKI concepts, networking technologies, security monitoring tools, packet capture, Wireshark, tcpdump, virtualization, storage, and identity-management security practices is important. A good grasp of TCP/IP, network protocols, ITIL processes, incident/problem/change/release management, and advanced troubleshooting is essential.
