About the Organization
The New York City Police Department works to improve daily life across New York City by partnering with communities to enforce the law, keep order, protect residents, reduce fear, and support public safety. The department focuses on smart resource deployment, crime prevention, quality-of-life issues, and building durable community trust.
The Strategic Initiatives Bureau is responsible for shaping long-term, department-wide transformation. It reviews policies, programs, and resource use to improve organizational performance and advises the Police Commissioner on both immediate and long-range strategic priorities. The bureau also evaluates emerging technologies and innovative approaches that can help the department carry out its public safety mission. Its structure includes the Office of Strategic Initiatives, the Office of Management, Analysis and Planning (OMAP), and the Project and Change Management Offices (PMO/CMO).
Role Overview
The Strategic Initiatives Bureau's Project Management Office is hiring a Policy Analyst to support the coordination and management of a wide range of department projects. Reporting under the Office of the Deputy Commissioner of Strategic Initiatives, this role handles the full project lifecycle for major improvements and new initiatives while providing analytical and technical support for planning, organizing, and implementing large, complex efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with project team members to build plans, define scope, monitor progress, and keep deliverables on track.
- Draft and maintain project materials such as requirement documents, contracts, schedules, project plans, presentations, agendas, minutes, and status updates.
- Help coordinate and support meetings with stakeholders and internal teams to review progress and next steps.
- Create and present clear, well-structured presentations.
- Identify issues quickly and escalate them when needed.
- Handle sensitive or challenging information appropriately and communicate it with care.
