Position overview
In this position, you will take ownership of both the administrative and technical sides of delivering a construction project. The role includes overseeing a group of field and cost engineers, serving as the key link between the construction manager and the team on matters such as cost, revenue, and cash flow, and helping coach and develop junior team members. It is suited to someone with strong communication, coordination, and mentoring abilities.
District overview
The Eastern Canada District works across a wide range of infrastructure and industrial projects, including highways, bridges, mass transit, mine site development, open pit operations, hydroelectric powerhouses, wind energy facilities, dams, and industrial work. The district supports construction and mining activity throughout Eastern Canada.
Location and mobility
The organization follows a flexible staffing approach and may relocate teams based on where the work is located, aligned with project needs, individual development plans, skill sets, and career objectives. The role may require travel and relocation as business demands change.
Core duties
This role involves developing a thorough understanding of contract drawings and specifications, reviewing site conditions, identifying issues and opportunities for savings, maintaining document control, managing schedules, preparing cost and cash flow projections, coordinating material purchasing and delivery, supporting quality control, and improving project methods and procedures.
Safety and working conditions
A strong safety mindset is essential. The position requires identifying hazards, responding appropriately to warning devices and safety signals, following lockout/tagout procedures, and ensuring work is performed safely and effectively. The work may take place at different sites and under changing conditions.
Qualifications
The successful candidate should have a bachelor’s degree in a construction-related discipline, or equivalent education and experience in project or field engineering. A P.Eng. licence, Engineer-in-Training registration, or eligibility to register is required. The role also calls for at least five years of construction experience with a strong emphasis on safety, along with practical knowledge of systems used for accounts payable and receivable, materials control, estimating, job cost updates, and subcontracts.

The position requires dependable attendance, the ability to meet deadlines, and professional communication with supervisors, colleagues, and others in both individual and team settings. Work must be performed safely, instructions must be followed carefully, and overtime and weekend work may be necessary. Compensation and benefits
The base pay range for this role is $97,142 to $130,000 per year. Final pay may vary depending on education, experience, skills, and location.
