Role overview
Mott MacDonald is seeking a Project Manager to join its growing Advisory and Programme Delivery team in Ireland. The position is based in Dublin or Cork and involves guiding complex workstreams on infrastructure programmes while supporting the growth of a nationally significant portfolio of projects. You will work closely with a Senior Project Manager and contribute to service innovation, programme delivery, and client-facing advisory support.

Team and business unit
The Advisory and Programme Delivery (APD) unit provides management services across Built Environment, Defence, Energy, Water, Transportation, Education, Health and Care. The Ireland APD team is expanding and currently operates across Belfast, Dublin, Cork, and Galway. Its core team includes experienced Project and Programme Managers, Planners, Commercial Managers, and Quantity Surveyors.
What the role involves
- Deliver project commitments and meet internal performance expectations.
- Complete work on schedule, within budget, and to the required quality and standards.
- Embed sustainability principles throughout project delivery.
- Oversee the health, safety, and wellbeing of everyone involved in the project.
- Work within agreed internal and client governance limits.
- Confirm that the appropriate safety management system is in place and operating effectively.
- Manage project spending and overall forecast cost, including approvals through the required governance route.
- Coordinate effectively with supply chain and procurement teams.
- Run the change control process and keep a clear record of changes affecting time, cost, and quality.
- Lead stakeholder engagement to define requirements, align on objectives, and keep key stakeholders involved in major decisions.
- Manage project risks and opportunities, including identifying, assigning, and mitigating risks.
- Support project commercial goals and ensure reporting and information are delivered on time and to standard.
- Maintain strong communication with the client and the wider programme team.
- Own the project programme and work with multidisciplinary delivery teams to update it as needed.
- Support the orderly close-out of projects.
Candidate profile
The ideal candidate will bring project management experience, preferably from consultancy or engineering environments, along with a proactive mindset, strong coordination ability, and a desire to help the team grow. The role suits someone comfortable representing the business, working with integrated teams, and delivering a high level of client service. Requirements
- A degree in Engineering or Project Management, or substantial equivalent project management experience.
- Associate membership of APM or PMI, or membership of Engineers Ireland.
- Chartered status, or progress toward chartership such as ChPP or an equivalent route, is preferred.
- Strong project management expertise.
- Experience leading project teams to successful outcomes, including mentoring or managing junior project managers.
- A full driving licence.
- Well-developed client and stakeholder relationship-building skills.
- Clear and effective communication with clients, project teams, business managers, and other business units.
- Strong commercial understanding, including planning and project controls.
- Experience working with FIDIC, NEC, or Public Works Contracts.
