QA Automation Engineer

Role overview

This is a remote hourly contract opportunity for a QA Automation Engineer in Canada. The assignment is expected to run at 10 to 40 hours per week, with pay set between $30 and $80 per hour.

What you will do

• Build, run, and refine automated test scripts for both web and mobile products.
• Keep automation frameworks updated so they continue to support changing project needs.
• Work closely with developers and QA colleagues to design strong automated test coverage.
• Connect test automation with CI/CD workflows, including tools such as Jenkins and GitHub Actions.
• Find, record, and monitor software defects in an organized way.
• Review test outputs and help improve QA processes over time.
• Prepare documentation for automation flows and share technical updates clearly.

What we are looking for

• Comfort with one or more programming languages such as Python, Java, JavaScript, or SQL.
• Practical experience using automation tools such as Selenium, Cypress, Appium, TestNG, or JUnit.
• Good understanding of CI/CD pipelines and how automation fits into them.
• Background in creating and supporting automated testing frameworks.
• Strong problem-solving ability, analytical thinking, and careful attention to detail.
• Clear written and spoken communication skills.
• Ability to stay effective in a remote, fast-moving work environment.

Additional information

Compensation is hourly, with a range of $30 to $80 per hour. The role is remote and based in Canada. Weekly commitment is expected to fall between 10 and 40 hours.
