Role overview
This position is for a Senior Architect working on hospitality projects in Thiruvananthapuram. The role sits within a luxury resort environment and focuses on guiding design work, coordinating reviews, and making sure project deliverables align with the client brief, contractual scope, and overall programme.
Key responsibilities
- Assign, track, and balance work progress across the project team.
- Work with the project coordinator to collect end-user inputs and comments, then incorporate the required changes.
- Make sure every team member clearly understands their responsibilities and stays within the agreed project boundaries.
- Review design submissions and check them against project requirements and the contracted scope of services.
- Complete review tasks within the required timeframe.
- Compile and consolidate review comments shared by different design reviewers.
- Coordinate with other discipline engineers in the project team to review and finalise ongoing work.
- Confirm that all designs reflect the client’s expectations and project requirements.
- Ensure the design stays within the contracted scope of services.
- Monitor that the overall design schedule and programme are achieved.
- Carry out approved design modifications according to the prescribed process.
- Ensure coordination is effectively managed by both the design consultant(s) and the design review team.
- Lead design technical workshops with the project team and the consultant when needed.
- Participate in weekly consultant meetings and internal project review meetings.
- Share regular project updates with the principal architect, including progress, status, quality, and issues encountered.
- Act proactively on possible risks, delays, and technical challenges, and escalate concerns to management to help avoid slippage.
- Take part in special committees such as tender evaluation, construction follow-up, and handover as required and directed by the Projects VP.
- Evaluate and document the design and technical performance of the design consultant, and prepare a summary at the end of each design stage.
- Create a lessons-learned register and share it with the principal architect for use in current and future projects.
Preferred background
The ideal candidate should hold a postgraduate qualification in architecture with relevant experience, such as 8–10 years in design, or a B.Arch graduate with more than 12 years of design experience in a reputed organisation.
Experience in the design and design development of hospitality projects, including resorts and 3-star or 5-star hotels, is required. Prior exposure to sustainable design and development is also important for this role.
