The Mick George Group is hiring a Trainee Quantity Surveyor to support its Contracting team in Huntingdon. This is a site-based position with working hours from Monday to Friday, 7:30am to 5:00pm. Pay will be determined by experience at management discretion.

What the role involves

In this position, you will support the commercial team across construction projects from start to finish. Key duties

  • Observe and support the daily commercial management of projects.
  • Help administer contracts throughout the project lifecycle and check compliance.
  • Assist with subcontractor accounts, including variations, re-measurement adjustments, and making sure payments are processed on time.
  • Support procurement activities in line with project needs.
  • Help prepare client valuations and pursue payment requests where appropriate.
  • Assist in preparing payment certificates according to contractual terms.
  • Support cost and value reporting within the financial timetable.
  • Highlight risks, opportunities, and concerns to management as early as possible so they can be discussed collaboratively.
  • Compile data and records needed by the quantity surveying team.
  • Provide processing support to the commercial team using relevant software.
  • Maintain positive client relationships.
  • Stay mindful of health and safety duties on site and escalate any concerns to site or senior management.

Requirements and qualifications
