Overview
MedVet is a rapidly expanding emergency and specialty veterinary provider with clinics across the country. The organization delivers advanced medical care and innovative treatments, including chemotherapy, radiation, cardiac ablations, glaucoma care, physical rehabilitation, dermatology, and more. This role is part of a collaborative clinical environment built around teamwork, leadership, and compassion.
This is a contingent position scheduled on an as-needed basis. The team is seeking an anesthesia-focused veterinary technician who enjoys working across departments, building expertise, and helping deliver an excellent experience for clients, patients, and colleagues.
Key duties
- Support patient procedures by applying anesthesia and analgesia protocols, including creating anesthetic plans suited to each case.
- Handle scheduling support, history collection, medical record entry, invoicing, and patient discharge coordination.
- Place IV catheters, perform endotracheal intubation, and use and maintain anesthesia equipment.
- Apply a strong understanding of anesthetic risks, including the impact of comorbidities on case planning and perioperative care.
- Monitor patients during anesthesia, identify complications, and carry out appropriate interventions.
- Continue developing advanced anesthesia capabilities such as arterial line placement, epidurals, difficult airway intubation, and critical case support.
- Use knowledge of physiology and pharmacology to help deliver safe anesthetic care for complex or high-risk patients and procedures.
- Contribute to the MedVet patient experience by delivering top-quality care.
- Work collaboratively, mentor others, manage multiple tasks, and function effectively within a busy team.
- Maintain complete, accurate documentation.
Candidate profile
- A current state Registered Veterinary Technician license is required.
- Prior veterinary experience is required; anesthesia experience is preferred.
- Strong math skills are needed for drug calculations, constant rate infusions, and unit conversions.
- Availability must be flexible, including the ability to work extra hours when needed.
- The role requires comfort in a fast-paced setting.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills are essential.
