Role Overview
We are looking for an energetic and guest-oriented Waiter/Waitress to become part of the front-of-house team in Sydney, New South Wales. In this role, you will help deliver smooth dining service, create a welcoming atmosphere, and contribute to a positive experience for every guest.
Key Responsibilities
- Welcome arriving guests, guide them to their tables, share menus, and assist with seating arrangements or reasonable special requests when possible.
- Explain menu choices, offer helpful suggestions, and accurately record food and beverage orders, then enter them into the POS system without errors.
- Deliver meals and drinks in line with service standards, while keeping an eye on tables and responding quickly to guest needs.
- Speak with guests in a courteous and professional way, resolve questions or concerns, and support upselling through thoughtful recommendations.
- Keep tables neat and ready for the next guests by clearing, resetting, and ensuring cutlery, tableware, and condiments are in place.
- Bring bills to the table, handle cash and card payments correctly, and manage transactions responsibly and discreetly.
- Work closely with kitchen, bar, and service colleagues to maintain smooth coordination and timely service.
- Follow restaurant procedures as well as hygiene, food safety, and sanitation standards at all times.
Requirements
- Prior experience in a waiter/waitress role or another customer service position is preferred, though not mandatory.
- Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with a warm and approachable manner.
- Ability to stay organized, multitask, and work effectively in a busy, fast-moving setting.
- Good eye for detail and a proactive attitude toward guest satisfaction.
- Comfort with basic arithmetic for order handling and payment processing.
- Willingness to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
- Food safety certification is an advantage, or the willingness to obtain one.
