Job overview

The Welder supports welding, blending, and repair work on gas turbine components, following approved instructions, process rules, engineering specifications, and quality expectations. The role is focused on delivering safe, precise, and consistent welding output that helps meet production, rework, and broader operational targets.

Role expectations

Beyond performing welding tasks to a high standard, the position calls for strong Lean practices, active participation in problem-solving, strict 5S discipline, and ongoing improvement efforts that strengthen safety, quality, delivery, and productivity. This role also contributes to Lean adoption by spotting improvement opportunities, following standard work, reducing waste, and helping improve process flow and performance.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out welding work according to approved work instructions, process specifications, and engineering requirements.
• Prepare components, surfaces, and equipment so the job is set up correctly before welding begins.
• Review and follow work instructions, welding procedures, technical documents, and engineering drawings to ensure accurate execution.
• Set up, run, and observe welding equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
• Check parts before, during, and after welding to confirm they meet quality standards.
• Capture and keep accurate process and production records when required.
• Spot welding defects, nonconforming conditions, or process issues and raise them appropriately.
• Assist with repair and rework activities in line with approved procedures and quality requirements.
• Follow Standard Work and Standard Work Combination Sheets to maintain consistency, quality, safety, and smooth line flow.
• Keep the work area neat, safe, and organized in line with 5S requirements.
• Apply Lean principles consistently in day-to-day work.
• Share ideas and observations that can improve safety, quality, cycle time, flow, and waste reduction.
• Help strengthen standard work, line layout, visual management, and process discipline to support Lean implementation.
• Work to takt time and standard flow requirements to support production goals.
• Use shop-floor systems and interfaces such as ELM, SmartShop, and MyAndon as needed.
• Follow company quality policies, safety rules, applicable procedures, and standard work at all times.

Requirements

• Diploma, technical college qualification, welding certification, or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 5 years of experience in welding, repair welding, or related industrial manufacturing work.
• Preferred: at least 2 years of experience welding gas turbine components or other precision aerospace/industrial parts.
