About the role

This internship is for a research-focused science role at Microsoft, based in India across Hyderabad, Noida, and Bangalore. The opportunity is designed for candidates who want to work on advanced machine learning and artificial intelligence problems while contributing to large-scale, product-oriented research work.

What you'll work on

• Study and improve the performance of advanced algorithms on very large datasets, with emphasis on machine intelligence and machine learning use cases.
• Translate product ideas and business goals into ML problem statements, identify the main technical hurdles, and shape experiments for testing and refinement.
• Develop practical prototypes for scalable AI systems and related applications.
• Build familiarity with multiple research directions, apply suitable research methods, stay current with industry developments, and share learnings with the immediate team.
• Assess data quality and technical limitations, prepare datasets for analysis, and resolve issues by determining what data should be retained or removed.
• Support creation of training-ready datasets and help expand workflows for feature generation and data preparation.
• Clean and adapt processed data for machine learning use under the supervision of senior team members.

Eligibility

Applications are open only to candidates who can commit to a full-time in-office internship, are available for a 3-month duration, and have relevant skills and interest in research, AI, and machine learning.
