Role Summary
The Cashier supports smooth checkout operations by delivering strong customer service, handling transactions accurately, and helping maintain a welcoming front-end experience. This role serves as a key first point of contact for customers and contributes to the store’s overall service standards and loss prevention efforts.
Responsibilities
- Deliver friendly, attentive service by communicating clearly and listening carefully to customer needs.
- Welcome shoppers as they enter the store and create a positive first impression.
- Use the cashier script to guide customers through checkout and explain programs such as loyalty membership, RK Visa, and RK Plus Protection Plan.
- Process cash handling, returns, layaways, and exchanges according to company procedures.
- Speak with customers and coworkers in a professional, upbeat, and courteous manner.
- Share basic product details, answer common questions, and suggest suitable options when appropriate.
- Work with loaders and respond quickly to customer assistance needs.
- Complete transactions efficiently, resolve price concerns professionally, and keep service moving.
- Remain positioned at the front register area when not actively helping a customer to signal availability.
- Explain the benefits of the loyalty program, including special offers, points, and personalized recommendations.
- Present the Rural King Visa card in a persuasive and informative way, including its rewards, offers, and financing advantages.
- Answer phone calls at the register using proper etiquette and clearly identify the store and yourself.
- Balance registers and complete paperwork with a strong focus on accuracy.
- Deactivate EAS devices or spider-wrapped merchandise when required.
- Stay alert to the surroundings to help prevent shrink while maintaining excellent service.
- Handle additional front-end duties such as stocking coolers, cleaning front windows, and managing registers.
- Keep popcorn and coffee stations stocked and ready for customer use.
- Maintain clean shopping carts and restrooms to support a pleasant store experience.
- Use basic office tools and equipment, including phones, copiers, fax machines, calculators, and computers.
- Take part in cross-training to support flexibility across departments.
- Participate in learning and development opportunities such as trainings, workshops, and webinars.
- Provide prompt, professional support to internal and external customers and help resolve questions or concerns.

- Complete other assigned duties as needed.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit or stand for long periods.

- Close vision required for computer-related tasks.
