Role overview

The Community Associate role is much more than a front-desk position. It combines hospitality-style service, day-to-day operations, and member support to create a smooth and memorable experience for everyone in the building. The work is practical, people-facing, and varied, with a strong emphasis on staying active, keeping standards high, and building genuine relationships.

This position suits someone who enjoys being on the move, solving issues as they come up, and working closely with a community. It is not a desk-heavy role. Experience in hospitality, reception, or another high-touch service environment will translate well here.

Location and working pattern

Your main base will be Bristol, though the role also supports the Bath site around 1-2 times each week. In most weeks, you will usually work from one site and occasionally provide cover elsewhere when needed. Your rota will be shared ahead of time so you can plan around it. The practical setup will be discussed during the interview.

Day-to-day focus

The role is a mix of member contact, coordination, site care, and events. A typical week is broadly split across member interactions, administration, building checks and upkeep, and running community activities. The exact balance changes from day to day, but the work stays active and hands-on.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out regular cleanliness, safety, and compliance checks to ensure the workspace remains attractive, safe, and fully operational.
• Act as a dependable first point of contact for members, whether they need help with a facilities issue, a quick conversation, or general day-to-day support.
• Work with your team and relevant stakeholders to resolve problems quickly and calmly when issues arise.
• Help deliver member events and bring energy to activities that strengthen the community.
• Collaborate across teams and sites, especially with the Community Manager and colleagues in London, Birmingham, Bristol, Brighton, and Bath.

The package includes a salary of £28,000, 31 days of leave including bank holidays, one additional day off for each year spent at Runway East, your birthday off, and extra time away during the Christmas period.
