What you will do
This position is centred on the fabrication, fitting, and finishing of composite parts and structures. The role involves hands-on workshop work, close coordination with teammates, and maintaining a high standard of workmanship throughout production.
- Create composite components to specification using methods such as detailed hand lay-up, vacuum bagging, resin infusion, and resin transfer processes.
- Use hand tools confidently and produce neat, high-quality finishes on structures and parts.
- Fit composite components and structural assemblies accurately to the required measurements and specifications.
- Work to instructions and project schedules so tasks are completed on time.
- Collaborate with team members to support delivery of project goals.
- Communicate clearly with colleagues to organise work, exchange information, and resolve issues quickly.
- Report to the Senior Boat Builder and stay aligned with project objectives and team performance needs.
- Keep workmanship standards consistently high across all composite fabrication tasks.
- Follow safety rules, quality procedures, and relevant industry standards throughout the build process.
- Suggest and help implement improvements to fabrication methods, tooling, productivity, and overall workshop efficiency.
Experience and qualifications
- Practical knowledge of composite construction methods, including infusion, RTM, hand lay-up of small parts, and secondary bonding.
- Prior experience with component finishing and finish coatings.
- Strong ability to use hand tools and install composite structures and parts to a high standard.
- Ability to read drawings and work instructions, and complete documentation when needed.
Benefits
- 25 days of annual leave, plus bank holidays.
- An extra paid wellbeing day each year.

Additional requirements
Because of the nature of the work, the successful candidate must meet the security requirements for the role. At minimum, this means having an existing right to live and work in the UK and being eligible for BPSS clearance; some roles may also require UK National security clearance.
All employment offers are conditional and depend on satisfactory DBS, driving licence, and reference checks. A criminal record will not automatically prevent employment; it will be reviewed alongside all other application, interview, and pre-employment information.
The organisation is committed to an inclusive and diverse workplace and can provide support or adjustments during the hiring process if needed.
Applicants should also expect the company to retain details for future suitable opportunities unless they request otherwise. For shortlisted candidates, contact is usually aimed for within 14 days of application or the closing date if one is provided. The company notes that it may not respond to every applicant due to the volume of interest.
Values and working style
The company looks for people who work well in teams, treat others with respect, show initiative, act honestly, understand the commercial side of business, and adapt quickly while continuing to develop professionally.
