About the Company

The Minds focuses on strategy, creative work, content creation, and social innovation. The company’s approach centers on culture-led brand building and thoughtful storytelling.

Role Overview

The organization is looking for a forward-thinking Creative Director who is excited by building brands through culture, community engagement, and compelling creative narratives. This person should be a confident leader who can generate standout ideas, nurture client partnerships, and guide teams while balancing hands-on creative work with long-term strategy. A strong sense of taste, speed, and creative discipline is essential.

Location: Remote-first, with preference for candidates on the West Coast.
Reporting to: GCD / ECD

Creative Leadership and Vision

  • Set the creative benchmark for both internal teams and clients, ensuring work stays ambitious and elevated.
  • Drive concepting and delivery across digital and social channels.
  • Challenge conventional advertising approaches and encourage fresh, boundary-pushing thinking.
  • Build a workplace culture rooted in experimentation, teamwork, and practical problem-solving.

Campaign Development and Execution

  • Lead the ideation, design, and production of campaigns that work across multiple platforms.
  • Collaborate with strategy partners to shape brand stories that feel culturally relevant.
  • Make sure creative output consistently supports brand goals and audience insights.

Client and Team Partnership

  • Act as a trusted creative advisor for clients, helping shape storytelling and design direction.
  • Confidently present ideas and creative work to clients and senior decision-makers.
  • Coordinate closely with account teams and external agency partners to keep brand efforts aligned.

Mentorship and Team Management

  • Guide, develop, and motivate Art Directors, Copywriters, and Designers.
  • Encourage collaboration, ownership, and high creative standards across the team.
  • Share clear, constructive feedback that supports professional growth.

Execution and Innovation

  • Oversee quality control across creative projects and the broader team.
  • Explore new tools, channels, and trends that can strengthen the agency’s creative offering.
  • Stay actively involved in new business pitches, production work, and post-production phases.

Experience and Background

The role calls for 7–10+ years in a creative leadership position and 10+ years in an agency or closely related environment. Candidates should bring a track record of developing and executing impactful creative strategies, along with a portfolio that demonstrates range across social, digital, experiential, and traditional media. Experience presenting multi-year strategies and campaigns to C-suite leaders is important. A strong understanding of social-first, community-led brand building, large-scale production, influencer campaigns, and creator partnerships is also expected.

Creative and Strategic Approach

Applicants should be naturally curious and willing to bring a clear point of view to the work. Success in this role depends on being deeply invested in the brands, audiences, and cultural context behind each brief. The ideal candidate understands cultural trends, audience behavior, and brand innovation, and can turn that insight into ideas that spark conversation, attract attention, and earn media coverage and shares. Sound judgment around the use of AI is important, especially when using it to speed up ideation or improve proof-of-concept visuals without replacing original creative thinking. The right person will also be committed to balancing creative excellence with business priorities and client needs.

Leadership and Collaboration

Strong communication and presentation ability are essential, including the ability to shape creative and strategy into a compelling story. The ideal candidate leads with confidence, inspires strong teams, and works collaboratively to solve problems and deliver projects effectively.

Skills and Tools

This role requires the ability to manage multiple rooms and conversations, from brainstorms to executive-level presentations. The Creative Director should be comfortable leading production as the only creative person on set and should bring strong conceptual thinking, visual judgment, and storytelling instincts. Fast-paced ideation is important, along with the ability to move from social-first ideas to larger brand platforms. Excellent writing ability is needed for scripts, headlines, taglines, post copy, and deck narratives. Strong presentation skills are expected in both live and deck-based formats using Keynote, Google Slides, and PowerPoint. Experience with AI-assisted creative workflows and mastery of Adobe Creative Suite are also required.

Bonus Experience

  • Experience or interest in culture-led, social-first ideation.
  • Passion for sports, either as a fan or through professional work.
  • Background in technology or device-related work is a plus, though not mandatory.
  • Comfort with unconventional thinking and approaches.
  • A collaborative, upbeat attitude and sense of humor are valued.

Benefits

The benefits package includes medical, dental, and vision coverage, a 401(k) retirement plan, basic/voluntary/AD&D life insurance, unlimited paid time off including vacation, sick leave, and public holidays, maternity and paternity leave, training and development support, and work-from-home or hybrid days.

Compensation

The expected annual pay range for this role is $150,000 to $200,000. Compensation is reviewed based on experience, knowledge, skills, job responsibilities, and location, and may be adjusted at the company’s discretion. The offer also comes with standard employee benefits and additional perks.
