Data Analyst

Role overview

A major financial services organisation is undertaking a substantial Workday transformation and is looking for a Data Analyst to support the preparation, cleansing, validation and migration of HR and Finance information into the new system. The role will act as the main data expert for the Workday rollout, partnering with HR, Payroll, Finance and external implementation teams.

This contract suits someone who enjoys working with data quality, migration work, HR systems and transformation programs, and who wants exposure to a large-scale Workday implementation.

Key responsibilities

• Review, clean, enhance and verify employee, payroll and organisational datasets.
• Identify data quality issues and resolve mismatches across several source systems.
• Produce useful workforce reporting and insights covering starters and leavers, turnover, workforce movement, position management and organisational structure.
• Support the transfer of HR, Payroll and Finance data into Workday from end to end.
• Pull data from a range of HR and payroll platforms.
• Carry out source-to-target mapping and prepare data for migration and testing rounds.
• Perform reconciliation, validation and quality assurance checks on migrated data.
• Assist with cutover and go-live preparation and execution.
• Work closely with internal stakeholders across HR, Payroll, Finance and the wider project team.
• Partner with implementation consultants and system integrators.
• Take part in Workday design sessions and data workstreams.
• Serve as the main subject matter expert for data within the project.
• Write SQL queries and generate data extracts.
• Use Excel to handle and reshape large datasets.
• Create dashboards, reports and data insights when needed.
• Support the creation of data migration logic and extraction processes.

Required experience

• Background as a Data Analyst, HR Data Analyst, Data Migration Analyst or Business Data Analyst.
• Prior participation in ERP, HCM, HRIS or Workday implementation projects.
• Hands-on experience with data cleansing, migration, mapping, validation, reconciliation and quality control.
• Strong Excel skills at an advanced level.
• Working knowledge of SQL.
• Confident stakeholder engagement and clear communication skills.

Highly desirable

• Direct experience with Workday implementations.
• Exposure to Workday HCM, Payroll, Finance or EIBs.
• Experience moving data from HR or payroll systems.
• Work across more than one ERP or HCM implementation.
• Understanding of HR data structures and workforce reporting.
• Experience with VBA, macros or automation tools.

Engagement details

This is a 12-month contract based in Sydney with a hybrid working arrangement.

Pay is listed at $900 to $1200 per day exclusive of GST.
