Role overview
The Executive Director will act as the senior leader of the organization, shaping its direction, supervising daily operations, and steering major initiatives that strengthen effectiveness and community reach. This role calls for strong organizational leadership, long-range planning, and the ability to work closely with a wide range of stakeholders.
The selected candidate will serve as the organization’s main public representative, building and sustaining relationships with board members, public-sector bodies, community allies, donors, and other partners. The role also includes making sure programs stay aligned with the organization’s purpose and values, while safeguarding financial stability, regulatory compliance, and a strong performance-focused culture. A data-led approach to decision-making, advocacy, and innovation is essential.
Responsibilities
- Shape the organization’s vision and strategic priorities together with the board and key stakeholders.
- Direct overall operations, including program delivery, financial stewardship, and compliance, so that all activities remain aligned with the mission.
- Build and preserve productive relationships with government officials, foundation contacts, community leaders, and other important partners to support collaboration.
- Guide fundraising initiatives by creating effective strategies, networking, and maintaining strong donor and sponsor relationships.
- Promote innovation, accountability, and ongoing professional growth across leadership teams and staff.
- Track organizational results through data analysis and use findings to refine programs and improve outcomes.
- Represent the organization at regional, national, and community gatherings while promoting its mission and public standing.
- Maintain clear reporting and communication practices so the board stays informed about performance, risks, and opportunities.
Requirements
- At least 15 years of progressive leadership experience in a relevant field, with clear achievements in administration, policy development, and program execution.
- Demonstrated success in running complex organizations, including experience with financial oversight and fundraising development.
- Proven ability to manage large teams, including hiring, coaching, and performance evaluation to support a healthy workplace and strong results.
- Strong background in strategic planning and the ability to turn long-term objectives into practical actions and measurable results.
- Experience working with a broad mix of stakeholders, including communities, government bodies, and non-profit partners.
- Solid understanding of applicable regulations, governance requirements, and compliance expectations.
- Advanced capability in data analysis and performance measurement, with the ability to use insights for continuous improvement.
- Track record of fundraising success, supported by strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Exceptional leadership with the ability to drive organizational transformation.
- Strong strategic thinking, with the capacity to connect vision to executable plans.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills for engaging diverse audiences.
- Experience handling conflict, negotiation, and complex situations effectively.
- Deep awareness of community dynamics and a collaborative mindset for partnership-building and advocacy.
