Role overview
Wills Bros Group is hiring an experienced Fleet Operations Manager to oversee its fleet activity across Ireland and support major civil engineering and infrastructure projects. This is a full-time, office-based position in the Sallins office, with responsibility for leading a nationwide fleet of about 400 vehicles and improving performance, compliance, safety, and efficiency across the business.
The role calls for a confident operational leader who has managed large fleet operations in fast-moving environments such as logistics, transport, construction, civil engineering, infrastructure, or similar sectors.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee the daily running of a nationwide fleet of roughly 400 vehicles.
- Lead, guide, and develop the fleet team and wider fleet function.
- Introduce and strengthen fleet management systems and processes.
- Manage driver compliance, safety, and performance standards.
- Ensure adherence to RSA, TII, CVRT, insurance, and other fleet-related regulations.
- Track vehicle usage, downtime, servicing, maintenance, and overall fleet spend.
- Coordinate with suppliers, leasing partners, maintenance vendors, and telematics providers.
- Support a culture focused on road safety, accountability, and operational standards.
- Work closely with operational teams supporting live projects across the country.
Required experience and qualifications
- At least 5 years of experience managing a large fleet environment, with 300+ vehicles preferred.
- Background in logistics, transport, construction, civil engineering, utilities, infrastructure, or a comparable operational setting.
- Demonstrated leadership and people management ability.
- Hands-on experience with driver compliance, vehicle maintenance, fleet operations, reporting, KPIs, and cost control.
- Strong working knowledge of RSA requirements, TII compliance, commercial vehicle regulations, and driver safety standards.
- Experience using fleet management systems, driver management apps, Excel, and SharePoint.
- Degree, diploma, or certificate in Logistics, Transport Management, or an equivalent field.
- Transport Manager CPC qualification.
- Fleet management qualification(s).
