About Medlock Square
Medlock Square is a major new destination within the Etihad Campus, bringing together culture, leisure and entertainment all year round. It sits beside the Etihad Stadium, home of Manchester City Football Club, and Co-op Live, creating a prominent new location for memorable shared experiences.
The project takes its name from the River Medlock beneath the site and reflects Manchester’s industrial past while helping shape the city’s future as a leading place for sport, music and entertainment. The area is set to become a landmark for hospitality, events and premium visitor experiences.
The food and beverage offering will include coffee houses, all-day dining, flagship restaurants and elevated culinary experiences. It is designed to welcome everyday guests as well as large event crowds, delivering quality hospitality throughout the week and across the events calendar.
Role Overview
In this Host position, you will be the first and last person guests interact with, setting the tone for a polished and welcoming experience in premium restaurant settings. The role is centred on high-end, lifestyle-oriented hospitality, where each interaction should feel personal, smooth and memorable.
You will work with the Restaurant Management team and Front of House colleagues to manage reservations, guide guest movement and ensure that service feels seamless from arrival through to departure.
During matchdays and major events, you will contribute to a busy VIP hospitality operation while continuing to uphold the same standards of professionalism, attention to detail and guest care expected in premium venues.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet every guest in a warm, polished and engaging way, helping create a strong first impression of the venue.
- Build friendly rapport with guests and, where possible, acknowledge individual preferences, special requests and important occasions.
- Support reservation handling, seating arrangements, waitlist management and guest communication.
- Help maintain smooth table turnover and appropriate pacing so guests are seated accurately and without unnecessary delay.
- Assist with premium hospitality delivery on matchdays and during major events.
- Manage arrivals, queue flow and guest directions in high-traffic situations while keeping service standards high.
- Maintain a professional personal appearance and ensure reception and arrival areas stay organised, inviting and ready for guests.
- Handle guest questions, requests and feedback in a courteous manner, escalating concerns when needed and working toward positive resolutions.
Skills and Experience
- Prior experience in a host, reception, guest services or other customer-facing hospitality role.
- Strong commitment to creating excellent guest experiences.
- Clear communication and strong interpersonal ability.
- Confident, professional and friendly presentation.
- Good organisation and close attention to detail.
- Ability to stay composed and professional in fast-paced service settings.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and event days.
- Experience in premium, luxury or lifestyle hospitality environments is preferred.
- Exposure to reservation platforms such as SevenRooms, OpenTable or similar tools is preferred.
- Background in restaurant, hotel, event or stadium hospitality is preferred.
- Experience serving VIP guests in premium service settings is preferred.
