Intermediate Interior Designer – Workplace Interior Design

Overview

This opportunity is for a proactive design assistant/intermediate interior designer with around 2–3 years of experience, preferably in workplace or commercial interiors. The role supports the design and delivery of several workplace projects across different sectors within a compact, fast-moving team. You will work closely with a Project Director, Senior Designer, and Documenter, building practical experience across concept development, design refinement, technical documentation, and project delivery.

The position is suited to someone who wants more than routine support work and is eager to take on meaningful responsibility, develop confidence, and gain strong exposure to live projects.

Key Work Areas

• Assist with design work during the design development and documentation stages.
• Source materials and finish samples, monitor deliveries, and keep sample boards organized.
• Coordinate furniture sample requests and manage logistics with suppliers and clients.
• Communicate with suppliers to obtain product details, pricing, lead times, and technical information.
• Prepare and maintain schedules for approved materials, finishes, furniture, and equipment.
• Support AutoCAD documentation by carrying out mark-ups provided by the Senior Designer or Project Director.
• Revise presentation materials and design packs using InDesign.
• Help with project coordination tasks such as meeting notes, action tracking, and follow-ups.

Team Structure

You will be part of a small boutique team and will learn directly from experienced practitioners rather than being one of many junior staff. The Project Director handles direction and client communication, Senior Designer(s) lead the design intent, and the Documenter focuses on technical drawing production while you help keep the work clear, accurate, and moving forward.

Candidate Profile

We are looking for someone with 2–3 years of interior design experience, with workplace or commercial projects being a strong advantage. You should be confident using AutoCAD, comfortable making drawing amendments, and experienced with Adobe tools, especially InDesign.

The right person will be highly organised, attentive to detail, proactive about follow-ups, and comfortable interacting with suppliers to manage sample procurement. A positive, energetic attitude and a willingness to contribute wherever needed are important for success in this role.

Contract Details

• An immediate start is preferred, though there is some flexibility for the right candidate.
• The working pattern is 3–5 days per week, depending on availability and workload.
• The role begins on a contract basis, with a possible move into a permanent position for the right person.

Location and Working Style

The position is onsite with flexibility for working from home on some days. The role includes in-person workshops as well as team and client meetings.
