Maintenance Planner/Reliability Engineer

Role overview

This is a site-based position within the maintenance team, blending maintenance planning responsibilities with SAP PM expertise and a strong drive to improve reliability across the plant. The role is hands-on and practical, with a focus on making maintenance systems and processes work more effectively.

You will help raise the standard of maintenance work orders, strengthen SAP PM usage as the plant’s maintenance management tool, and partner with cross-functional teams to ensure work is clearly scoped, properly prioritised, and ready for execution. A major part of the job is improving planning quality, backlog health, and equipment availability.

The position supports asset reliability, makes better use of maintenance resources, and enables decisions based on data to improve plant performance and reduce unexpected downtime.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain clear, high-quality maintenance work orders and job plans in SAP PM.
• Improve the quality of SAP PM work orders while cutting down duplicate requests and low-value tasks.
• Work with Operations to coordinate equipment access and maintenance timing.
• Review equipment maintenance history to uncover opportunities to improve reliability.
• Contribute to continuous improvement projects linked to maintenance planning and reliability.
• Spend time on the plant floor to understand equipment issues and confirm the correct scope of work.
• Partner with site functions so planning decisions reflect actual equipment condition and operating realities.

Requirements

• Previous experience in maintenance planning, or a closely related role, within an industrial setting.
• Strong working knowledge of SAP PM, especially the Plant Maintenance module.
• Practical understanding of industrial plant maintenance and equipment.
• Good communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to manage input from several functions and balance competing priorities.
• Reliability engineering or asset management experience is preferred.
• A trade background or engineering qualification is preferred.
• Experience improving SAP PM processes or carrying out data quality initiatives is preferred.
